Promoting North-east ties with Norway

VisitAberdeen has attended an exhibition in Stavanger, Norway, to promote Scotland’s North east as a vibrant tourism destination.

The annual Stavanger Reiselivsmessen event, attracted in the region of 9,000 visitors.

Aberdeen is a popular destination for Norwegian travellers, with 112,000 Norwegian passengers visiting Scotland in 2012 and Aberdeen being listed amongst the top five UK destinations visited.

The accessibility offered by regular and direct flights continues to make Aberdeen an attractive location across Scandinavia. As well as offering flights from Aberdeen to Stavanger with Eastern Airways, SAS and Widerøe, Aberdeen Airport also flies to Oslo, Bergen and Kristiansund in Norway.

Peter Medley, Marketing Director at VisitAberdeen, said: “Aberdeen and Stavanger have an established relationship in terms of the number of passengers who visit, with regular flights further enhancing this.

“Aberdeen has become the destination of choice for Norwegian visitors, not only for business tourists, but also leisure visitors who appreciate the accessibility and variety to be found in the cosmopolitan city.”
