A development officer has been appointed by the Peterhead and Fraserburgh Fish Processors Association (PFFPA) to provide practical business support to the local seafood sector.
The appointment follows a successful application to the Aberdeenshire Fisheries Fund.
Moyra Patience joined the association on January 6 and is already busy with enquiries from members looking for support and development.
Ms Patience is an experienced seafood professional with a wealth of knowledge in a variety of areas, latterly working for a top shellfish processor as sales director.
She said: “I am delighted to have joined the association and I am looking forward to working closely with members to help them address issues and meet their individual business objectives.”
The PFFPA is now offering members a free business health check audit.
Each participating company will be provided with a report highlighting any areas requiring attention and also any development opportunities.
The association can then provide an action plan and ongoing support to address any issues. Any member interested should contact Moyra by email at email@example.com
Will Clark, chairman of the Peterhead and Fraserburgh Fish Processor Association, said: “We are delighted to welcome Moyra to the team. The association has secured offices at 2-6 Famers Lane in Peterhead alongside the shiplift, which it hopes to turn into a training and development centre.
Association chief executive John Cox added: “Having the offices are vital to the success of this project. We want to be located where we are accessible to industry and over the time we will add to the services we can offer.
“We are working with a number of organisation to become the delivery partner for services our sector requires. Our plans are ambitious but in times of great difficulty, the solutions have to be bold. I echo the chairman in welcoming Moyra to the team.”
