Buchan services and events

Peterhead Methodist Church Sisterhood will meet on Wednesday, October 24, at 7.15pm. The invited guest speaker is Kath Wylie and all ladies are very welcome.

The Buchan East Presbyterial Council is to have a meeting in Peterhead St. Andrew’s Church, Queen Street, on Wednesday, October 24, commencing at 7.30pm to consider Guild Projects.

On Sunday, October 28, in Old Deer Church at 10.30am, morning worship will be led by the Rev. Sheila Kirk and the service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

There is no Sunday School that morning but crèche facilities will be available during the service.

Still on Sunday, October 28, in Stuartfield Hall, the Rev. Sheila Kirk will lead a service commencing at 6pm and the Sacrament of Holy Communion is to be included.

Friends of Deer Parish Church are asked please to note there will not be a service in Fetterangus Church that evening, but the Prayer Group is due to meet in Old Deer Church on Wednesday, October 31, from 6.30-7.15pm.

The Millennium Thanksgiving Service will take place in Cruden Parish Church on Sunday, October 28, at 11am (instead of the normal time of 10am). The Guest Preacher will be the Moderator of the General Assembly, The Right Reverend Albert Bogle, and the congregations of St. James’ Episcopal Church and Cruden Bay Congregational Church will join in the service.

As mentioned previously, the purpose of this special service is to round off the celebrations to commemorate the building of the first Christian Chapel in Cruden Bay following the Battle of Cruden.

On Sunday, October 28, Peterhead Fishermen’s Mission has the regular Nightcap Service at 8pm and there is a warm welcome to all who are able to attend.

Then there is the weekly meeting of the Ladies’ Guild in the Mission on Tuesday, October 30, at 7.15pm and again ladies are very welcome.

Having learned that Peterhead Congregational Church is to be celebrating its 189th anniversary this weekend, many friends would like to offer Christian greetings and good wishes in recognition of all the faithful witness and loyal service linked to that period of time.

There is an Anniversary Social on Saturday, October 27, at 7pm and then on Sunday, October 28, the services at 11am and 6pm will be conducted by the Rev. James McMillan. Refreshments will be served at the close of all three occasions and all are welcome.

Cruden Parish Church Guild will meet on Monday, October 29, at 7.30pm when Stewart and Carol Paul will give a talk about their visit to China.

Peterhead Congregational Church Ladies’ Guild will meet on Monday, October 29, at 7.30pm, when Jane Wiseman as the guest speaker is to talk about the Starfish Project.

On Saturday, November 3, Peterhead St. Andrew’s Church is having a Buttery Morning and a Soup and Sweet in the Palace Hotel from 10am to 12 noon.

Peterhead Old Parish Church Senior Ladies’ Fellowship will meet on Monday, November 5, with Mr. Robert Cardno as the guest speaker.

Koinonia, Peterhead Baptist Church invites you to an evening with the Ythan Singers at 7.30pm on Saturday, November 10. A collection will be received in aid of local Macmillan Nurses.
