Buchan services and activities

John and Liz McDonald, who represent the Faith Mission in this area, are the guests at this week’s meeting of the Peterhead Methodist Church Sisterhood on Wednesday, January 30, at 7.15pm. All ladies are very welcome.

The next meeting of the Methodist Messy Church is due to be held on Saturday, February 2, this being a monthly gathering, between 10am and 12.30pm.

It is an organisation particularly for families and is open to such as may not attend church regularly; those who have never been to church or those who are there every week!

Through an approach which involves fun, crafts and informality, teaching is presented about God. After a time of worship in the church a light lunch is served to round off yet another meeting.

Families can be made up in a variety of ways. All are welcome but children must be accompanied by an adult family member.

Peterhead St. Andrew’s Parish Church Guild will meet on Wednesday, February 6, at 7.30pm when Elizabeth and John Noble are to present an update on Orissa, India.

Peterhead Congregational Church Ladies’ Guild’s next meeting is on Monday, February 11, at 7.30pm when the special guest, the Rev. R. Neilson, will be sharing a Birding Adventure.

The Peterhead group of the Church of Scotland is to be having a United Service with the Sacrament of Holy Communion in Trinity Church Peterhead, on Sunday, February 10, at 11am. The Guest Preacher and Celebrant will be the Very Rev. John Christie, B. Sa, B.D, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland for 2010-2011.

In view of this special service, it should be noted there will be no morning services that day in Peterhead Old Parish Church, Peterhead St. Andrew’s Parish Church and St. Fergus Parish Church.

On Sunday, February 3, morning worship in Old Deer Church at 10.30am will be led by the Rev. Sheila Kirk. The Sunday School is to meet also and teas are to be served. All are welcome.

Later that day, at 4pm in Fetterangus Church the Rev. Sheila Kirk will conduct a service with the theme, “I am the light of the world.” A singing duet is to be contributing to the service also. Here again all are welcome and teas are to be served afterwards.

Deer Parish Church Prayer Group will meet in Old Deer Church on Wednesday, February 6, from 6.30 – 7.15pm.

St. Drostan’s Episcopal Church, Old Deer, is holding a fundriaisng quiz at Buchan Indoor Bowling Centre on Saturday, February 2, at 7.30pm, to which all are invited.

On Sunday, February 3, there will be Eucharist at 9.30am, while the following Sunday, February 10, there will be Ext. Comm at 11am.
