Total E&P UK Ltd staff at the St Fergus Gas Terminal site held a fundraising cake bake recently to raise money for the Buchan Renal Unit in Peterhead.
A fantastic £2,500 was raised for the purchase of an electronically operated comfort chair to be used at Peterhead Community Hospital.
The funds were raised on behalf of Facilities Team Leader Mark Crockett, whose father Billy was a patient of the Buchan Renal Unit.
Billy sadly passed away in November 2013 and attended the Renal Unit for a staggering 22 years, making him their longest visiting patient.
Administration and Communications team leader, Fiona Morrison, said: “When we found out the Renal Unit were trying to raise funds for comfort chairs, we decided to hold a charity event to help them purchase one in memory of Mark’s dad.
“We held a Cake Bake stall in the canteen and we were inundated with donations of homebakes including jam, toffee and cupcakes.”
Fiona added: “Mark’s family, along with staff, were very generous with their donations and our event actually lasted two days!”
Renal Unit nurse, Linda Willows, said: “We are overwhelmed with the continued generosity from the Crockett family as they have raised money for us in the past.
“We will use this donation to purchase a brand new purpose made dialysis chair that will be easier for staff to use and it will also be more comfortable for our patients.”
