Residents of Stuartfield are celebrating after the village was announced as the winner of the Buchan in Bloom 2014 competition.
All Buchan communities were invited to enter the competition earlier this year via the various Community Councils, Community Associations and Village Trusts.
Entries were received from all across Buchan including Cruden Bay, Fetterangus, Maud, New Deer, New Pitsligo, Old Deer, Strichen and Stuartfield.
Judging for the event took place on Wednesday, August 20.
The Head judge was John Sibbert from Aberdeenshire Council Landscape Services, Banff.
John was joined on the day by Norma Thomson of Dial a Community Bus and Julie Grant from 1st New Pitsligo Boys’ Brigade and both members of Buchan Development Partnership (BDP) Support Group.
All the winners were invited to attend BDP’s AGM and Autumn Forum held at Maud Public Hall on Wednesday, September 10, where they were presented their trophies by councillor Stuart Pratt, who is also chair of the Buchan Area Committee.
Maud came second while Strichen was third and named Most Improved Village.
