Buchan Health Service going for silver

  • Peterhead Hospital staff to take on step challenge
  • Scheme will run for the next two weeks
  • Aims to promote mental wellbeing, healthy eating and active living

Staff members at Peterhead Hospital are taking part in a ‘Step Challenge’ as part of the Healthy Working Lives scheme.

Last year the Buchan Health Service team achieved the bronze award and this time around they will be going for the silver award.

They will be running the challenge over two weeks in teams of four and the winning team will be the ones who amass the most steps onto their pedometers.

The Healthy Working Lives programme is open to all employers across Scotland.

Calvin Little of NHS Grampian said: “Last year we completed the bronze award and this year we are going for silver.

“To get the silver award we need to do a physical challenge, something to promote mental wellbeing, healthy eating and active living.

The health service have taken this on board as an example to other organisations to look at workplace health.
