Buchan churches begin series of studies for Lent

The Peterhead Churches course of Lent studies will be featured this evening, Tuesday, March 5, with the Methodist Church, Queen Street, as the venue.

The subject is “Singing in the Wilderness”. Next week on Thursday, March 14, the host fellowship is that of St. Andrew’s Church, Queen Street, when the subject will be “Saved from Death”.

It will be well enough known by now that these sessions all start at 6.15pm with a bring and share meal.

However, those who are prevented by circumstances from meeting at that time are most welcome to come for 7pm when the study is due to begin.

On Wednesday, March 6, Deer Parish Church Prayer Group meets in Old Deer Church from 6.30pm to 7.15pm.

Peterhead St. Andrew’s Church Guild has a special meeting of a different kind on Wednesday, March 6.

This is to be a visit to the local Sheriff Court and it is requested that those attending should meet at the Court House for 7.30pm.

Peterhead Methodist Church Sisterhood will meet on Wednesday, March 6, at 7.15pm when their guest is to be Andrew Sinclair. All ladies are very welcome.

Cruden Parish Church “Coffee and Chat” is on Wednesday, March 6, at 10.30am in the Church Hall.

On Sunday, March 10, in Old Deer Church at 10.30am Mothering Sunday Worship will be led by the Rev. Sheila Kirk. T

he Annual General Meeting of the congregation will be held at the start of the service.

The Sunday School meets as usual and teas will be served afterwards.

There will be a Fairtrade Stall after the morning service on Sunday, March 10, in Cruden Parish Church.

Peterhead Old Parish Church Senior Ladies’ Fellowship will meet in the upstairs hall at 2pm on Monday, March 11, when the guest speaker will be Keith Harley of the new ARC – Animal Rescue Centre.

The members of the Peterhead Congregational Church Ladies’ Guild are asked to note that the meeting planned to be held on Monday evening, March 11, has been postponed and will take place on Monday, March 18.

On Thursday, March 14, there is the Buchan East Presbyterial Council meeting in Maud Parish Church at 7.30pm with I. Whyte, General Secretary, of the Guild, as the speaker.

Supporters of the Blythswood Care charity are advised that the monthly visit of the collecting vehicle to Peterhead and district has been arranged for Thursday, March 14.

It is to be located in the former Focus car park, off Catto Drive, from 9.30am till 12.30pm. After calling at Crimond at 1.15pm, it will be at Fraserburgh Leisure Centre for the rest of the afternoon, leaving at 4.30pm.

A Soup and Sweet lunch, with all proceeds going to Christian Aid, is being held in Peterhead Old Parish Church on Saturday, March 9, from 12 noon till 2pm. Tickets are £4 or payment can be made at the door.

Advance notice is given that the Peterhead Festival of Gospel Male-Voice Praise will be held in Peterhead Baptist Church, King Street, on Saturday, March 23, at 6.45pm. Fuller details are to be given next week.
