The Buchan Battalion Boys’ Brigade has recognised the long service of two of their officers at the recent Battalion parade.

Lieutenant Bill Stott and Captain Steven Wilson of the 1st Strichen Company were presented with the award by Battalion President Michael Strachan on behalf of the Brigade Executive.

Mr Strachan said: “It was great to see these two long serving officers recognised for the sterling work they have undertaken for the boys in their company, and the wider Battalion.

“Their dedication has opened many doors to the young men they have served over the last 40 years.”

Mr Stott was awarded a gold award for his 40 years of service to the Boys’ Brigade.

He has been a life long member of the Brigade, and helped restore the 1st Strichen BB four decades ago when it fell on hard times.

A former Captain of the company, Lt Stott now helps the Company as an officer in the Junior Section.

Captain Steve Wilson was awarded his silver award for 25 years as an officer.

Under Mr Wilson’s leadership the company has gone from strength to strength, taking an active part in recent years to reinstate the Duke of Edinburgh Award in his Company and the wider Battalion.

Capt Wilson is a member of the Battalion Executive, advising on matters relating the DoE.
