BUCHAN councillors will be asked today (Tuesday), to approve a grant of £192 to Boddam and District Community Council.
The cash will be used towards the cost of installing electric sockets on three street light columns to facilitate the erection of additional festive lights for the village.
The sockets will be installed on columns at Manse Terrace, Boddam to allow the existing display of festive lights to be increased. There are already two festive lights positioned outside Skerry Hall in Seaview Road.
Councillors will hear that the Community Council has raised sufficient funds to purchase the three new lights and hire a cherry picker to erect and dismantle the lights using community councillors as volunteers.
The community council intends continuing to fundraise with the intention of increasing the display on an annual basis.
The cost of the supply and installation of the three sockets is £240 + VAT.
The balance of the cost, £96.00, will be met by the community council.
Buchan area manager Chris White says: “The community council is requesting a grant of £192.00 towards the cost of the project, and should this be approved, a balance of £1,357.60 will remain.”
