The highlight of the Army Cadet Force year is with us once again and this yearcadets from 2 Highlanders ACF have relocated from their various detachments throughout the North East to Barry Buddon Training Area just beside thefamous golf course at Carnoustie.

A total of 188 cadets accompanied by 85 Cadet Force Adult Volunteers attended this year’s camp among them cadets from the Peterhead detachment.

The training programme consisted of the standard Army Proficiency Certificate subjects of drill and turnout, target shooting, navigational skills, cadet radio qualifications and fieldcraft which involved camping out for between one and three nights.

To ensure it was not all hard work each company also spent three days at an adventure training centre where they carried out teambuilding exercises, trail biking, hill walking and wall climbing.

Judging by the smiles on the cadet’s faces on their return a good time was had by all.
