Buchanhaven Heritage Society will be hosting its first Arts, Crafts and Performing Arts event for 2013, based on Visit Scotland’s Year of the Natural Environment, on March 16 at Buchanhaven Community Centre.
Themed on the natural environment, the event, which runs from 10am to 4pm, will feature quality art to suit all tastes and price range from a number of talented local artists including Kenny Cowe and George Strachan.
In addition to the artwork there will be a range of crafters and exhibits including Betty Bells home made sweets and preserves; wood carving and turning; Aberdeenshire Ranger Services with their treasure chest of goodies on marine life and for the young the chance to make your own badge.
For the older visitor why not try your hand at the lost art of ‘clootie rug’ making and receive an informative talk from Isobel Gregory to get you strated in this interesting hobby.
Have your pet captured in art by artist in residence Elinor Grieve and much more including storyteller Diana Bertoldi who will enthrall the young with stories in the story tent at 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm with crafts in between for all to join in and have some fun.
There will be traditional Scottish folk music throughout the day and at intervals the new tune for the area entitled ‘The Wells of Buchanhaven’ will be performed.
So for a day of fun for all the family head to Buchanhaven Community Centre where a warm welcome is assured. Tea/coffee and fine piece is available and the chance to meet friends old and new.
Society vice-chair, Elizabeth Milne, said: “We appreciate all the artists, crafters and performers who are giving their time free of charge to ensure visitors have a good day out.”
