Police Scotland is appealing for information following an alleged attempted robbery in Peterhead.

The incident happened in the Windmill Street area of the town, near to the Bus Interchange, between 12.45pm and 1pm on Friday September 16, and involved an elderly female.

A 25-year-old male from Peterhead has been charged in connection with the incident and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

However officers continue to appeal for further information and ask for anybody who was in the area at the time to come forward, in particular a male and female who helped at the scene.

Detective Sergeant George Nixon said: "I would like to thank members of the public who have assisted us so far.

"Our enquiries continue and I am particularly keen to speak to a male and female who boarded a bus shortly after they provided assistance to the female involved in the incident in question.

"I would urge them to get in contact with us through 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 as you could have information which might help."
