Buchanhaven Heritage Society was delighted with its latest event, staged on Saturday, April 26, which attracted a full house.
A special Scottish Evening brought Scottish values back to the former school with guests for the evening being welcomed by the traditional sound of the skirl of the pipes.
During the evening guests were entertained by performances from Serena Wilson Dancers, Ross and Michael on the fiddles and songs by the 5th Peterhead Girl Guides.
The evening ended with the serving of some delicious stovies and a range of sweets for the assembled guests.
Work will now commence on a strategic review of the work of the society, while developing the final stage of the business case for the asset transfer process to complete and updates on this review will follow in due course.
Commenting on the successful event, society member Brenda Fairweathe, said: “It was great to see so many folk here and the wide spectrum of ages all enjoying a traditional evening of song and dance.
“We are dedicated to safeguarding our local culture and heritage and in addition promote traditional values that are too often lost in today’s society.
“Seeing these talented local young folk perform and interact with our visitors was a delight to see.
“It gives us confidence that the society is in safe hands in the years to come,” she added.
