In time honoured tradition the last Saturday in November brings The Buchan Bachelors Ball with this year marking the 60th year at the Palace Hotel, Peterhead.
The ball, which attracts around 300 people, is one of the oldest of its kind and has a colourful past.
Started in 1930 the ball then stopped during the 2nd world war with it starting up again in 1946. It then ran consecutively for 20 years until 1966 when it died out however was revived in 1984 by the committee pictured above.
Having run consecutively since then this year marks the 60th year of wining, dining and dancing as indeed it has always been.
The ball retains its traditional roots of an all-male committee with six members of the current committee related to those pictured above.
The Palace Hotel has already booked out all 120 of its rooms for this year’s ball and Kenneth Watt, owner of the hotel describes it as one of the most enjoyable and wild nights the hotel hosts with the residence bar remaining open until the last person goes to bed.
The current committee are Gregor Mackintosh, Alex Fowlie, Ross Fotheringham, Stuart Munro, Charles Mccombie, Finlay Davidson, Ross Learnmouth, Ewan Gordon and Kenneth Mair. Anyone still wishing to attend feel free to get in touch.
