Buchan area councillors will be asked to approve the allocation of £52,440 of Developer Obligations funding to Stuartfield hall, when they meet in Peterhead on Tuesday.

The cash will be used to undertake renovation works to improve community use of the hall.

Stuartfield Hall Committee submitted a Developer Obligations Project assessment to Aberdeenshire Council earlier this year, outlining their proposals to renovate the village hall at an estimated cost of £48,562.50.

Their original proposal was to increase the kitchen size and fit new units, build a new store on the gorund floor, convert an unused commikttee room upstairs into storage and insulate the main hall.

It was agreed by the Buchan area manger, in tandem with the Developer Obligations team to allocate £46,279 funding to the project.

An additional project assessment has since been received from the committee seeking additional funding to help them complete the project.

An additional sum of £6,161 has been agreed in principle, bringing the total amount of funding requested to £52,440.

The hall committee have since revised their plans and will also extend the small hall, including an additional store for the nursery equipment and furniture.

The is insteadof converting the upstairs committee room, which was difficult to access with equipment and furniture.

The small hall is the most used room in the building, mostly by the nursery which presently has to leave larger items stored in a corner.
