The Buchan Heritage Society Young Entertainers came ‘fae a the airts an pairts’ of Aberdeenshire this year and provided an excellent evenings concert from start to finish at the Ritchie Hall in Strichen.

Bill Gray, from Peterhead, the regular compere, accompanied by dancer Amy McRobbie from Cummienstown and fiddler George Davidson from Tarves provided great entertainment while our judges deliberated.

This year Ian and Wilma Forsyth from Mintlaw along with committee member Agnes McKay were in the hot seat judging, and they did not have an easy job.

The junior competitors were Sophie Kuberek, Demi Garden, Rosie Stephen, Rosie Winchester, Nadia Raduncheva and Shanna Slessor with Nadia from Fraserburgh reciting Doric Verse coming first, Rosie Stephen also Fraserburgh and Doric Verse, second with Rosie Winchester from Keith on fiddle taking

In the Senior Section, lovely singing from Rachel Carstairs from Keith took her into first place with Stuart Davidson from Tarves on the fiddle coming secondand Iona Fyfe with an Ian Middleton Doric Poem third. An excellent performance from all on stage lead to a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment for a much appreciative audience.

The next meeting in New Pitsligo Public Hall is on Wednesday, October 16 when Andy McCormack and his concert party will entertain.
