New Aberdour February
Report

This month’s activity was Scrap Book making, and what a marvellous experience it was.

Alison Garratt presented the session and the members had the opportunity to see examples of the work Alison has done over the years. Her Scrap Books were objects of beauty and wonder, and her brilliance of design was evident on every page.

Members then attempted their own scrap book decorations, with Moira McDermot’s effort judged as first place, followed by Katrina Sellick in second and Joyce Strachan in third.

The winner of the soup competition was Sarah Turnbull, with Margaret Alderton second and Lesley Schofield third.

Cathy Gibb thanked Alison for her demonstration, and for sharing her excellent scrap book work with us.

New Pitsligo February report

The February meeting of New Pitsligo WRI was opened by President Mrs Joie Barrack.

Business was discussed before Joie handed over to Phillipa Buckingham who gave a presentation on Mary’s Meals, an organization set up in 2002 by Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow to help feed the world’s poorest children.

Along with an informative film show we saw how their work in some of the poorest countries is transforming the lives of many children by providing one daily meal.

She told us that just £10.70 would feed a child with Mary’s Meals for a whole school year.

With the presentation over Phillipa very kindly judged the competitions.

Pencil case (donated): 1st Sheila Joss, with all entries donated to Mary’s Meals.

Bundle of Cheese Straws: 1st Sheila Joss; 2nd Joie Barrack; 3rd Lesley Lord.

A welcome cup of tea was served and the raffles drawn.

Mrs Marlene Laird gave the vote of thanks and brought the evening to a close.
