Top dogs have their day at community centre

PAMPERED pooches and marvellous mutts headed down to Peterhead Community Centre to take part in this year’s Scottish Week dog show.

The event proved to be a howling success, with top dog for 2012 being Barney, a King Charles Spaniel owned by Kelly O’Brien. Runner-up was Rio, a Samoyed owned by Morag Miles.

There were a number of categories up for contention including best non-pedigree, the dog with the waggiest tail, best veteran and puppy, and best pedigree.

Fun categories included best fancy dress (in a red, white a blue theme to celebrate Jubliee year), and dog with the waggiest tail.

This year’s event also featured a special agility demonstration, which proved a hit with the audience and dog owners alike.

Full results were as follows:

Fancy dress - Barney, King Charles Spaniel, owned by Kelly O’Brien.

Best junior handler - Melissa Mitchell with Blu the Blue Roan Cocker Spaniel.

Best puppy - Mika, Chihuahua, owned by Kelly Dobbie.

Best veteran - Whisky, Jack Russell cross, owned by Jennifer Fraser.

Pedigree small - Teddy, Whippet, owned by Edward Beattie.

Pedigree large - Rio, Samoyed, owned by Morag Miles.

Non-pedigree - Tyson, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, owned by Michael Best.

Dog with waggiest tail - Murphy, Working Cocker Spaniel, owned by Lisa Bryson.
