A phrase often appearing in media circles is ‘stepping up to the plate’ and that could be applied to the recent meeting of Peterhead Probus Club on Tuesday last week.
When the scheduled speaker was unable to attend, Probus member, Tom Buchan, admirably filled the spot.
This was an occasion in which Tom gave members readings of his own poetry, comic and serious verses, showing a shred eye for human nature in its beauty and foibles.
It was a most enjoyable session and Tom thoroughly deserved the warm vote of thanks at the end of the meeting. The next meeting of the season for Peterhead Probus Club takes place in the Palace Hotel on Tuesday, January 22 at 12noon for 12.30 pm with the guest speaker being Robert Lovie, Area Manager of the National Trust for Scotland.
This is the Probus Burns Lunch and members and guests wishing to book places should contact secretary W. Garden.
