The Scottish Week Family History Society photography exhibition has been hailed a huge success by organisers of the event.
Dozens of visitors turned out for the week-long exhibition which was held at Aberdeenshire Council’s Buchan HQ, Buchan House on the town’s St. Peter Street.
Displays featured a large collection of old photos of Peterhead and the wider Buchan area, giving visitors the chance to see pictures of the town centre, work and home life in days gone by.
The photographs at the exhibition included pictures of streets, shops, families, school pupils, weddings, youth organisations, boats and crews, and workplaces in Peterhead.
Commenting on the success of the event, chair of the Family History Society, Rita Gordon, told the Buchanie: “It’s been going really well.
“We’ve had a lot of visitors and many of them have been identifying people in the photographs. A lot of them are also recognising the changes which have been taking place in the town.”
This is the first year the exhibition has been held at Buchan House and organisers said they were delighted with the turmout.
