Buchanhaven Heritage Society will be holding its first heritage exhibition of 2013 on March 9 at Buchanhaven Community Centre from 10am to 4pm.

On display will be the latest photographs from the ‘Chipper’ Elsie files, along with a selection from the Salvation Army archives, fishing industry, Buchanhaven Hearts and much more.

In addition there will be artefacts from the Playhouse Cinema and the chance to meet former staff who will provide a wealth of information on their time in the world of cinema.

There will also be beautiful examples of lead soldiers hand crafted by local man Ronnie Stephen and ships in bottles which were all made many years ago by Danny McIntosh (father of the former head teacher of Buchanhaven School Ann McIntosh). Also on display will be some surprise items which promise to be crowd pleasers.

Elizabeth Milne, vice-chair of the society, said: “We are delighted to have so many local artefacts and photographs on display for all to enjoy and look forward to seeing friends old and new at the centre on the day.

“The response to our work has been amazing and it gives great pleasure to see so many enjoying the exhibition and each other’s company throught the day. We hope the surprise items will delight many and look forward to seeing everyone on the day.”

Society chair, Alex Geddes, added: “It is great to see so many enjoy our exhibits which evoke so many memories for those who come along. This is just the start of an exciting year for the centre and we will continue to deliver events and exhibitions to appeal to all age groups.”

While there enjoy a cuppa and a fine piece with family friends. Entry is free, but donations are welcome to ensure the exhibitons continue to grow and develop.
