Sandra Kinghorn welcomed members of Peterhead Group SWRI to the annual charity evening held recently in Mintlaw Indoor Bowling Club.

Members were informed that more than 60 ‘Mary’s Back Packs’ and four bags of extras had been collected and handed over to the charity, an excellent effort.

A reminder was given of Country Comes To Town, the Federation Meeting on May 27, the Rag Rug Craft Class on July 6 and 7, and The Handcrafts and Housewives Conference being held in Elgin on September 10 and 11.

Lonmay WRI were presented with the bowling trophy and Irene Reid Crimond WRI won the competition for Gipsy Creams, judged by Margaret Davidson, and now goes forward to the next round in Aberdeen. Peterhead Dialysis is the chosen charity this year and the £377 raised will be passed on to the unit. Hilda Gerrie, Peterhead group treasurer gave a comprehensive vote of thanks and members were reminded that the AGM will held on September 23 at 7pm in The Bowling Stadium in Mintlaw.
