Mintlaw gardening success as winners are announced

MINTLAW Community Council’s annual garden competition has proven to be a great success with green-fingered residents.

Community council secretary, Joan Whyte, told the Buchanie: “Each year we stress that the competition in its present form couldn’t go ahead without the sponsorship of the Happy Plant Garden Centre and once again in 2012 we are very grateful for this continued support.

“However, without the entrants there wouldn’t be a competition at all. The entries are down a bit this year, possibly because of the weather, but there are still some stunning gardens out there against all the odds.”

A special prizegiving ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 21 in Mintlaw Academy’s coffee lounge at 7pm, to which all the winners are invited.
