Buchan Bird Club members have handed over a cheque to Fraserburgh Lifeboat - the proceeds from an inaugural sale held in April.

Club members Isobel and Duggie Beedie and Norman Robertson arrived at the RNLI station to present Coxswain Victor Sutherland and LOM Hamish Partridge with the £200 cash boost.

Founder members Isobel and Duggie, along with secretary Norman, said the Buchan Bird Club only started this year and had its first sale in the public hall in New Pitsligo in April.

There was a huge turnout and money raised from admission fees, donations for teas and raffles raised more than enough to cover the club’s costs and expenses.

Being a non-profit organisation, the committee decided to divide the surplus between three local charities - a local bird sanctuary, the MacMillan Trust and the lifeboat.

Duggie was a fisherman for 28 years and knows the role that the RNLI plays in the community.

Commenting on the donation, Mr Partridge said: “This was a great gesture by the members of the Buchan Bird Club and the donation will be greatly appreciated by everyone at Fraserburgh Lifeboat Station.”
