Peterhead Sea Cadets’ junior section recently celebrated 20 years since their formation with a birthday party.
The junior section, for Cadets aged between 10 and 12 years old, was first introduced at T.S. Caledonia in January 1994 and has grown from strength to strength ever since.
The section has developed over the years and now the youngsters work towards a range of qualifications within the junior syllabus.
They can take part in boating activities and gain qualifications alongside the senior section and also take part in district and area competitions.
Juniors also get the opportunity to go on camps at unit, district and area level giving them the opportunity to meet with junior cadets from otherareas.
T.S. Caledonia’s Marleen Mowatt told us: “The junior section has proved to be extremely popular with Cadets and there are currently 16 juniors at Peterhead with a waiting list of children keen to join.”
To celebrate this milestone for the juniors, T.S. Caledonia held a special birthday party at which all Cadets were given commemorative badges, presented by one of the unit’s first Junior Cadets and now OIC of T.S. Caledonia, Sub Lt JohnBowman.
