Bogbrae WRI meets

President Anne Sandilands opened the January meeting, welcoming everyone and reminded us of the motto for the month “Keep smiling never look glum”.

Once business was completed, Anne handed over to guest speaker, professional storyteller Helen McDonald – The Blacksmiths Daughter.

Helen’s theme was “My love is like a red red rose, with a nod to Burns” and began with a reading of his famous poem.

Enchanting stories of The Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and several poems followed. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

Scottish fare was then served by the committee along with a welcome cup of tea. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a close when Betty Morrice gave the vote of thanks .

The next meeting is in Hatton Public Hall on February 11 at 7.30pm when there will be wine tasting with Wattie Gill.

Monthly competition: Decorated Wooden Spoon 1st Katrena Wilkie, 2nd Betty Morrice, 3rd Susan Boardley.
