Westwood B&B near Strichen has unveiled its new ‘Armadilla’ accommodation, which is set to become a fantastic hideaway for visitors.

The compact tourist chalet, which sleeps two people, arrived at the B&B last October.

Situated on Strichen’s Brewery Road, Westwood B&B is run by husband and wife team John and Katrina Mutch.

And it was John who was first inspired to buy an Armadilla during a visit to the Highland Show.

The Armadilla is perfect for a range of tourists and is part of the ‘glamping’ or ‘glam camping’ experience - offering luxury without the hassle of putting up a tent.

Situated next to the Buchan Line, the accommodation is suitable for walkers, sky gazers, bird watchers, cyclists or those who simply want a romantic weekend. Westwood B&B is also close to local whisky trails and castle trails.

The cosy tourist pod includes a everything you could possibly want from a luxury hideaway. The accommodation sleeps two in either a double bed or two singles, which can then be folded away to reveal an eating and seating space.

The Armadilla has its own central heating, a wet room and a small kitchen area which
includes a fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster.

The chalet also features a range of mod-cons including a TV with Freeview, an iPod dock and Wi-Fi.

Outside, there is a swing as well as a fire pit with logs and kindling, perfect for a summer barbeque.

Visitors to the Armadilla, which is the only one of its kind in the area, can go self-catering or, alternatively, be served a continental breakfast in the accommodation itself.

Commenting, Katrina said: “We’re looking forward to a nice summer like last year.

“We’ve already welcomed our first guests and we’re looking forward to welcoming many more.”
