North East Open Studios (NEOS) celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year and crafters and artists will be exhibiting their work from galleries, workshops, shops and other venues during September.

Aberdeenshire Council is providing the theatre at Aden Country Park free of charge for the anniversary celebrations and four crafters will be showcasing their work at the Mintlaw venue from September 7 to 15.

Artists Hazel Prichard and Iris Mutch, photographer Rosemary Stubbs and Victoria Metson, who makes woollen items from the fleeces of sheep from her farm, are all taking part.

Having now retired, Hazel is happy to have the time and energy to concentrate on her art and for the last couple of years she has been developing her ideas and exploring different painting mediums.

Hazel’s inspiration comes from thebeauty of her surroundings and she enjoys exploring these subjects.

Victoria Metson of Rare Threads has always been fascinated by nature and with her first sheep the desire to spin was born.

She finds spinning gives her complete control over her finished products.

Iris Mutch grew up in Fraserburgh and whilst at school she was interested in drawing and painting.

She takes inspiration from the beautiful land and coast which surrounds the area.

Rosemary Stubbs has been interested in photography since she was young but it has only been in the last few years that she has exhibited her work. This will be her third year taking part in NEOS.

Aden Park Craft and Gift Shop, run by the Friends of Aden Country Park in partnership with Willowbank Resource Centre, is also taking part.

The shop is open seven days a week and is staffed by volunteers at the weekend. The shop offers a wide range of crafts including metalwork, woodwork, jewelry, textiles, pottery, photography and knitted goods and all the profits made by the shop will be used by The Friends for the development and improvement of Aden Country Park.
