Owners sought for escaped pet birds

The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owners of five different pet birds that are all believed to have escaped from their Aberdeenshire homes over the warm weekend.

harity has rescued two budgies, a canary, a parakeet and an exotic sun conure from various locations across the region and they are all now being cared for at the Scottish SPCA’s Aberdeenshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Drumoak.

Centre manager Graeme Innes said: “All of these birds are friendly and well cared for so we are pretty confident they all have owners who are missing them.

Scotland’s animal welfare c“It’s likely they have escaped through windows or doors that have been left open due to the warm weather we’ve been enjoying.

“Casper, a blue budgie, was found by a member of the public in Aden Park, Mintlaw, while Chelsea, a white and blue budgie, was handed in to Kingswells vets.

“Cheeky the canary flew into a kitchen in Westerton Crescent and Oliver the parakeet was handed in to us after being spotted in a Peterculter garden. Finally, Sunny, the sun conure, which is a small to medium sized parrot, was found on the roadside in Lemon Grove, Peterhead.

“We’re urging anyone who recognises their lost bird to come forward and claim their pet by calling 03000 999 999.”
