ROCKIN': Peterhead Rock Challenge Winners

THE Blue Toon community has come out in support of Rock Challenge winners Peterhead Academy’s bid to win the national final by donating funds to the school.

Physics teacher Emma Marshall said: “We have had a few people already pledging money and others say they are willing to help. Every little counts even if it’s £50, it is much appreciated.

“When all the little amounts are added up its surprising how the total can mount up. Altogether we need £6,000 with hair, make- up and food costs, as well as everything else.”

Ex-pupil Stuart Cameron assists the team, he said: “We are the only school to go to all four competitions this year. One of the reasons is it does cost a lot.”

Daniel Sutherland of APEX Church presented a cheque to members of the team to go towards paying for their food. Daniel and church members had seen the article in last week’s Buchanie and decided to help the pupils out.

Daniel said: “We want to help support the people of Peterhead. Rock Challenge fits in with our ideas and that’s why we wanted to support them in this.”

The team need the money to help pay for their trip to Milton Kenyes on July 22, where they will compete in the final.
