Community collection for Sarah

New Deer Community Association is organising a collection for local pharmacist, Sarah Purdie, who took early retirement from her business at the end of October.

Sarah, along with husband Neil, has run S & N Purdie, Dispensing Chemists, in the village’s Main Street, for the past 27 years.

Sarah says that it is with mixed emotions that she is retiring from pharmacy practice, and explained: “New Deer has been a huge part of my life - work and personal – and I’d like to thank the community as a whole and the Community Association for welcoming us warmly in 1985 and supporting us so loyally over all these years.”

During that time, according to an NDCA spokesperson, Sarah has provided a valuable service to a rural village.

“She has always demonstrated a keen interest in village life and been committed to the work of the Community Association,” they said.

“Her role has been positive and proactive, and her presence in New Deer will be sorely missed.”

It is therefore appropriate that her contribution to the village should be recognised in this way.

Anyone wishing to make a contribution to her official retirement collection is requested to hand in their donation to “Food for Thought” on the Brae, where Jane and Karen have kindly agreed to act as a collection point.

It is planned to operate the collection from now until the end of January, whereupon a presentation of some sort will take place.
