Peterhead and Buchan awarded coveted Fair Trade Zone title

Buchan Fair Trade group members with councillors Stuart Pratt and Anne Allan

Peterhead and Buchan Fair Trade Steering Group have achieved Fair Trade Zone Status.

The group were presented with their certificate at the Buchan Area Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 26 by councillor Stuart Pratt.

Fellow councillor Anne Allan said: “I am delighted to announce Peterhead has been given Fair Trade status.

“I have also just discovered that Scotland has been named a Fair Trade Nation.

“There has been a lot of support from churches, schools and businesses.”

Group member, Liz Strachan, said: “This is just the beginning. We are very grateful, but we need to keep working together.

“Thank you to everyone for their support but please keep buying Fair Trade! Look out for the logo.”

Councillor Stuart Pratt said the award was an “amazing achievement”.
