THE game kicked off and Maud suffered the worst start possible by going a goal down in the second minute from total confusion in Maud's defence allowing Sinclair to sneak in and finish off.
Hermes looked to be up for this game and created a further three chances but to no avail. Maud finally got to grips with the game and started to play some good football. Good linking play by Maud finished off with Murray trying to chip Reid in Hermes
goal to no avail.
Great play down the right wing from Norris saw him send in a cross to Murray whose diagonal shot went in off the left post in 35 minutes for the equaliser. A quick free kick was passed short to Murray who slipped past his marker to set up Usher who thundered it over the bar. A good run up the left wing in the 43rd minute was well finished off from the resulting cross by a superb header from McKinstry.
The first half drew to a finish with Hermes edging the play.
Almost immediately Hermes came at Maud and only twice playing the offside trap prevented Sim from getting a shot on target. Play flowed from end to end until Hermes gained a further advantage in the 67th minute when perseverance from Sim finally paid off and he got himself on the score sheet.
A minute later Sim doubled his tally when slipping past Maud's defence he launched a diagonal shot which flew into the back of the net. Maud pulled one back in the 70th minute from Murray who collected the ball from space in midfield. Going past Reid in goals he sent in a peach of a cross which ended up in the bottom right corner of the net. With the game slipping away from Maud, Hermes put the final nail in the coffin when Simpson could only parry a shot sent in, only for Strachan to nip in and finish off for Hermes fifth of the night.
With the season now over Maud can look forward to a well earned rest until pre season starts again at the end of June.
