Goals galore in the Buchan Welfare League

Hatton hit Boddam for seven in the Buchan Welfare League last week with both strikers hitting top form.
James Bain (penalty) and Mathew Cowie both nettd hatricks with Jamie McNeil grabbing the other. Paul Cluiet (penalty) and Graeme Wood scored for Boddam Thiste.

Cuminestown stayed top on goals difference after scoring three without reply against PH
D Pensioners with the winning goals coming from Mark Maniukiewicz, Euan Beaton and Calum Meldrum.

Methlick join them at the top after a top of the table tussle with New Deer finishing 4-2 winners with the goals coming from David Anderson (2) and one apiece for Garry Finnie and Sam French. Roy Nicholas scored a double for New Deer.

Ardallie had Balmoor as visitors and again they took all three points with a 4-2 victory. Ross Forrester fired home a brace and Steven Sim and Andrew McFarlane got the others. Darren Watson and James Ritchie replied for Balmoor.

New Pitsligo had Mintlaw United as visitors and lost 5-3 with Barry Robertson hitting a double and one each from John Ross, Martin Smith and Ian Smith.Daniel Smith, Stuart Whyte and Chris Dunning scored for Pitsligo.

Results were as follows:
Boddam Thistle 2-7 Hatton, Peterhead Pensioners 0-3 Cuminestown, Methlick 4-2 Newdeer, Ardallie 4-2 Balmoor, New Pitsligo 3-4 Mintlaw United.

On Wednesday, in the second round of the Gordon Leask Memorial Trophy, Kenyan hosted New Deer who had Roy Nicholas in top form scoring all five goals for the visitors. Steven Summers was on target for Kenyan.

In the quarter finals of the League Cup Hatton played Boddam Thistle who they had beaten last Monday, but Boddam Thistle turned the tables on Hatton by wining 7-3. Paul Cluiet grabbed himself a hatrick, Andrew Hepburn and McKenzie Geddes with the others.

In the other quarter final it was expected to be a close game between Longside Thistle and Methlick but the latter scored four goals without reply courtesy of Stevie Reid, Gavin Marr, Sam French and Garry Finnie.

In the league, Balmoor edged out New Pitsligo in a nine-goal thriller with the wining goals coming from a hat-trick from Michael Rhynd and one each from Paul Johnston and Robbie McKean. For Pitsligo James Fraser, John Lamont, Jamie Wilson and Sandy Maitland were on target.
Mintlaw United went through to the second round of the Gordon Leask Memorial Trophy in which they will meet Longside Thistle.
A tight game was excepted but Mintlaw triumphed with goals coming from John Ross and Martin Smith and Duncan Summers for PHD Pensioners.
