THE winning streak continued for Peterhead with another confidence-boosting win at East Fife, seeing them just three points off the top of Division Two.
Boss Neale Cooper admitted the 2-1 victory against ten-man East Fife on Saturday was not the "sharpest" his boys had played.
But he was pleased they managed to turn it around in the second half, giving his team a confidence boost prior to their Ab
erdeenshire Shield final against Inverurie Locos at Balmoor on Wednesday.
A delighted Cooper told the Buchanie that his team played much better in the second half of the match.
He told the Buchanie: "I am very pleased with the result of the match. We didn't start out as the sharpest team in the first half, but once we had chatted at half time there was a vast improvement in the second half.
"When we got going we really matched East Fife well, our defence became stronger and we just kept going, managing to scramble a goal and then getting the penalty.
"I played Ryan Strachan and I have to say he performed well in the second half, getting stronger as the game went on.
"Then we got the penalty, and credit to Jon Stewart as he put it away, I couldn't watch though, it was so close to the end of the game!"
But man of the match for the manager was David Donald, who Cooper said was "excellent".
There was contoversy in the second half when the referee decided Bobby Mann's rebound had crossed the line, leaving many fifer's furious at the decision.
Cooper said: "I couldn't see the goal myself, but Bobby told me the shot was over."
Cooper said the win on Saturday would help keep up his team's confidence, adding: "It is a massive three points for us, we have only been beaten at home once this season, so we just need to keep up the momentum.
"When you win a game it breeds more positivety and gives the team more confidence."
It's a busy week ahead for the Blue Toon, with their cup final match against Inverurie Locos tomorrow (Wednesday) followed by a home-game against Arbroath on Saturday. Cooper admitted the cup final would be a challenge and that his team would have to ensure they keep up their high standards.
"We are looking forward to the matches this week. The cup final will be a hard game to win, and we've done well to get to the finals. We just need to make sure we keep the standards high, it would be great to win."
