EVER fancied a relaxing break, soaking up the Aegean sun as you lie in your own spectacular villa in the south of Turkey?
Well one lucky person is getting the chance to do that AND help a number of charities thanks to the generosity of Albert Balloch, UK sales director of Aegean Heavenly Homes.

Mr Balloch has offered the use of his Turkish villa, situated in the Yes
iltepe area, for two weeks as a fantastic fundraiser for the Buchan Observer's Cause for Celebration.

The villa, which sleeps eight people, will be available to the winner for two weeks in either May, June, August or September, and offers luxurious accommodation in the heart of Turkey where you can soak up the sun, have a swim in the pool, browse around the unique shops, dine in the local eateries, explore the rich history or admire the variety of local widlife.

Mr Balloch told the Buchanie: "I wanted to do something to help Cause for Celebration as many charities benefit from this fundraiser, so we thought that offering the villa was a good way to help these causes and get publicity for the company at the same time.

"The villa sleeps eight people and has an 8m x 4m pool as well as a children's pool and an extensive terraced area on the roof which is a definite sun trap.

"It is located in the Yesiltepe area which translates to green hill in English, and is near to the Bodrum/Isimir highway, with Bodrum being the nearest airport located some 45 minutes away, and Izmir about an hour away.

"The villa is also wheelchair friendly with bedrooms located downstairs, and is maintained by a British couple, Frank and Carol Smith, who will be on hand to help in any way they can to ensure that you have a fantastic holiday."

Mr Balloch says the site where the villa lies is a mixed site with locals and ex-pats, with around 50 people in permanent residence, although many of the sites have still to be developed.

"There is a town just a few miles away where there are nice restaurants and a few shops, and it's certainly not an expensive place to holiday once you are there," he said.

"The pool is regularly cleaned and is usually ready for use some time in May.

"A hire car is probably advised, although there are buses and taxis readily available, but it would be a better idea to hire a car so that you can see the spectacular countryside."

The villa is located in Akbuk in Turkey which is in the south of the country, and the house is located between Akbuk and a lake.

"That particular area is steeped in history and for those who are interested in birds, there are hundreds of different species to be found there. There are also plenty of restaurants offering delcious fresh food, particularly seafood, and it is a very family-friendly area.

"There is also the opportunity to go to the Greek island of Kos, with day trips available to the island."

Mr Balloch said that flights from Aberdeen Airport to Turkey would be starting this month, but the flights would be landing in Dalliman which is around two hours from the villa.

He suggested that it would be easier leaving from either Glasgow or Edinburgh airports which take you to Dallaman or Bodrum, much closer to the villa, or from Gatwick which takes you to Izmir.

Buchan Observer editor, Ken Duncan, said: "This is a superb fundraiser for Cause for Celebration and it is very generous of Mr Balloch to lend us the villa for such a worthy cause.

"We have decided to hold a silent auction for the villa, with the highest bidder winning the prize. But obviously because of what's involved we are hoping to raise as much cash as possible.

"The bidding will be started at £300 and those interested can submit sealed bids to us with the highest bidder winning this fantastic prize. The closing date for bids will be Thursday, November 26."

Send your bids marked Confidential to: Ken Duncan, 28-30 Seagate, Peterhead, AB42 1JP.

Cause for Celebration is on November 27 at Buchan Braes with eight different charities already set to benefit from the popular annual fundraiser.
