Drove under the influence
A 32-year-old man convicted of drink driving was given a 12-month ban last week.
Aaron Finnegan, of Wellington Villas, Bury, was over the legal limit when stopped by police on Peterhead's St Peter's Street on November 29 of last year.
Finnegan pled
guilty at Peterhead Sheriff Court and was given a £500 fine in addition to the driving ban.
The court heard Finnegan had been out with friends for a meal when he had decided to drive home.
His defence agent, Stuart Flowerdew, said: "It is the not the highest reading, but an incident which will have a significant impact on his job. Perhaps he is someone who would benefit from a drink-driving rehabilitation course."


Stole drugs

A 29-year-old man was convicted of breaking into a medical practice and stealing prescription drugs at Peterhead Sheriff Court last week.
Keith Ironside, of Fernie Brae, Gardenstown, pled guilty to the offence on Thursday.
The court heard Ironside had broken into the Banff and Gamrie Medical Practice on May 24 2005 and stolen two packets of prescription drugs.
Defence agent for Ironside, Gail Wiggans said Ironside's position had changed since the incident and he had taken positive steps to change his life. Sheriff Marysia Lewis deferred sentencing until next month.

Knocked over boy on zebra crossing

A WOMAN who knocked over a 13-year-old boy on a zebra crossing has been ordered to appear in court.
Alison Mutch (32), of Thompson Terrace, Fraserburgh, had pled guilty to driving without due care and attention.
Peterhead Sheriff Court heard that on December 2 of last year Mutch had failed to give way to the boy on a zebra crossing in the town's Dennyduff Road which had led to a collision. The 13-year-old was taken to hospital but discharged shortly afterwards.
Sheriff Marysia Lewis deferred sentence for two weeks for Mutch to make a personal appearance and she is due to be sentenced on February 18.

Denies threat to inject woman with bleach

A BUCHAN man accused of attacking a woman and threatening to inject her with bleach, appeared in court on Thursday last week.
Gordon West (42), of Watermill Road, Fraserburgh, is accused of assaulting the woman before threatening to inject the bleach into her at his home on December 13, 2008.
West also faces a further charge of assaulting a man and hitting him on the head with a glass ashtray to his permanent disfigurement on December 31 that year.
Appearing at Peterhead Sheriff Court last week, West maintained his not guilty pleas, but the case was deferred for further information to be obtained and is due to call again this week.
